Social Spider is a not-for-profit design, communication and social action agency. Based at Leroy House, they are committed to helping people communicate with each other in the most effective ways possible.
Made up of a refreshingly young team, Social Spider believes in the importance of encouraging and supporting communication in all of its many forms. Last month saw the launch of their latest initiative, www.HiddenAgendas.org.uk, a website project developed by Social Spider to help young people understand and discuss the key issues behind today’s current affairs.
David Floyd, 25-year-old Development Director states:
“Hidden Agendas is a place where young people can get an insight into the things that are driving many of the events we see on the front pages each day. It’s also a place where they can debate these issues with each other and find ways of taking their political interests further, whether it be through joining a political party or organisation, getting involved in politics at a local level or finding charities or non-governmental organisations that address their concerns.”
As well as this new project, Mustafa Kurtuldu, Design Director (also 25), is keen to stress how diverse the work Social Spider undertakes is:
“Projects like Hidden Agendas are only one aspect of what we do,” says Mustafa. Social Spider is committed to helping people to communicate effectively, and to helping to generate new opportunities for people to find new and better ways of communicating.”
He continues:
“We offer print and web design, copywriting, training and project development and fundraising consultation, as well as generating our own projects. We have the attitude that there are lots of people out there who are doing good work that need the best chance of being successful and widely known. Where we can, Social Spider helps people and organisations to give their projects and communications the best chance of success.”
Mark Brown, the old man of the company at 28, agrees:
“We work with charities, local authorities, social businesses, arts organisations and other bodies and individuals in these areas. This is because we come from that background and understand the needs and ideas of these sectors well.”
