For special lunches and evening dining, Coopers (49A Lincoln's Inn Fields, WC2A 3PF) offers an array of European dishes with a great selection of champagne, wines and beers. Holborn is also home to chain restaurants that you might not be altogether familiar with, but who serve great food at competitive prices, such as Chez Gerard (119 Chancery Lane, WC2A 1PP).

Lunch in Holborn can also be much more interesting that simple sandwich shops (although there is an abundance of these if you require speedy service and a cheap lunch). Itsu (236 High Holborn, WC1V 7DN) offers an authentic range of sushi delicacies along with soups and teas, at surprisingly affordable prices.

Going Out

A couple really stand out: Bar Polski (11 Little Turnstile, WC1V 7DX) is certainly for vodka lovers, offering over 55 varieties to wash down your home-cooked Polish cuisine. Cella London (84 Chancery Lane, WC2A 1DL) is a seriously functional karaoke bar complete with banging tunes and state-of-the-art karaoke machines with wireless microphones and thousands of songs to choose from.

If you’re looking to continue the fun after hours, Guanbara (Parker Street, WC2B 5PW) is a huge Brazilian-themed venue with a late license, great for making a change from standard club atmospheres. With a bar and a la carte menu and live screen TV for sports, it really does cater for all your needs.
