Bank Area Guide

Bank of England, LondonSituated along King William Street in the City of London, Bank is in the rich heartland of the nation’s capital. King William Street is known for its investment banks and other financial institutions, although this is hardly surprising when you consider its proximity to the Bank of England. Office space in Bank will bring you together with some of London’s most important financial institutions and if you work in the industry, this can be enormously beneficial.

The tube station – the eighth busiest on the underground network - is serviced by five lines and the Docklands Light Railway, making travel in and around London particularly easy. If you need office space in the City, but want to explore the cultural and entertainment districts of the West End, the extensive tube links will ensure you are able to do so regularly.

What type of company will Bank suit?

Primarily, companies working in the financial sector will benefit not only from a central location within the Square Mile, but also from close proximity to major financial institutions and the Bank of England.

Any company that has professional ties to the financial industry may also benefit from office space around Bank. The inner City is very quick to receive world news and is generally regarded as ‘in the know’ and some consider the Square Mile to be the most strategic location available for any business.

Transport

Bank is connected to five major lines – Central, Northern, Waterloo and City, District, Circle – and to the Docklands Light Railway. The Waterloo and City line means Waterloo, a large mainline hub to the South West, is only 4 minutes away.

Liverpool Street: 5 minutes
Waterloo: 4 minutes
Euston: 15 minutes
Canary Wharf: 12 minutes

The Docklands Light Railway makes travel within the Square Mile itself far easier, and decreases journey time to the major City districts, such as Canary Wharf and Canada Water.

Eating

Due to the area’s emphasis on finance and business, Bank does not benefit from as big a range of dinner and fine dining establishments as in the West End, or around King’s Cross. However, lunch offerings are still vast, to cater for the district workers, so you can be sure to find a great deli or sandwich shop to suit your needs. Check out City Deli (107a Clifton Street London, EC2A 4LG) which will always make your sandwiches to order, whatever combination you require.

Going Out

Similarly, Bank’s nightlife offerings are limited due to its business emphasis. There are some hidden gems, however, that are great for after-work relaxing. Clause Bar (1 Lovat Lane, London, EC3R 8DT) is a good choice for evening drinks, offering regular happy hours and a dedicated waitress service. Alternatively, check out the Counting House (50 Cornhill, London EC3V 3PD), which is housed in an old banking hall and offers a very extensive range of drinks along with a classic pub menu.
